Students will produce composition exercises using Irish influences and instruments.
Set works on 2 options.
Listening
Incidental music.
Music from the Irish tradition
General listening and developing a musical vocabulary
Performing
Ability to play a musical instrument or sing. Need to perform to peer group in ensemble and as soloists.
Students are encouraged to take part in extra curricular music.
Music Technology
Use of GarageBand and Sibelius for composing and arranging tools. A good recording and score is ideal for this coursework.
YEAR 12
Composing
Composition 2 (coursework lasting 3-4 minutes).
Selecting ideas from repeated patterns or incidental music for this composition
Listening
Set works from Core listening.
Repeated patterns. General listening including unseen music
Performing
Performing to a high standard as a soloist and as part of an ensemble. Record and assess performances also class performances with peer assessment.
Music Technology
Some students may move on to Audacity or Logic to get better sound recordings. The recording is more valuable than the score at this level.
